SJSU Just Clicked for Vince Buhagiar

Shunning the Pac 10 and Mountain West for the opportunity to play closer to home, Clayton (Calif) High School defensive star Vince Buhagiar made San Jose State the place where he'll spend his college career.

"It just clicked," Vince Buhagiar told Inside Sparta on Tuesday. "My parents will get to come see me play and I have two brothers that went there."

Buhagiar chose San Jose State over Pac 10 Washington State and Mountain West UNLV.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Buhagiar was recruited by Brent Brennan, and while this final composition of the SJSU staff has yet to be announced, Buhagiar said he was assured that Brennan will be remaining.

After taking an official visit to SJSU during the weekend of Jan. 9, he followed that with a trip to Washington State the following weekend. Afterward, the choice came down to feel.

"The people are what did it," he said. "The coaching staff, the athletes there, and the athletes that will be there. I've developed some great relationships with some of the guys that are going to be playing for San Jose State, so it was just a great fit."

Buhagiar said that at first Spartans were recruiting him as an athlete, but that the new staff is looking at him as more of an H-Back.
