San Jose State Ice Hockey solidified its positon atop the American Collegiate Hockey Association West Region rankings with solid wins over Weber State and Colorado. In the second ACHA rankings, released on Friday, the Spartans received all 10 first-place votes.

Leading the league in both scoring and defense, the Spartans are the only remaining undefeated team in the West Region. Colorado State and Denver switched places, with the Rams now in the No. 2 slot with DU at No. 3. Colorado remained in the No. 4 position.

The Spartans play Washington in the opening round of the Gold Rush Tournament on Friday. The SJSU-Washington game will be played at 7:45 p.m. at the U.S.S. Spartan (aka Logitech Ice). The Cal-Palmer West game will be at 10:15 p.m. at Berkeley Iceland in Berkeley. The winners of Friday's games will meet in the Championship game on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at Logitech Ice.
