Three SJSU football staff members to teach at NFL/National Football Foundation Coaching Academy Clinic. Charles Nash is a Coaching Academy Clinic teacher for the third time in the last four years. Charlie Camp will be offering instruction on linebacking play. C.J. Arnold will be working with the defensive backs.

San Jose State University running backs coach Charles Nash, outside linebackers coach Charlie Camp and graduate assistant C.J. Arnold will be three of the teachers at the annual NFL/National Football Foundation Coaching Academy Clinic hosted by the San Francisco 49ers, Saturday, May 21.

The purpose of the one-day clinic is to enhance the knowledge of young coaches who can learn the game from prominent professional and local Bay Area college coaches.

"This is clinic is about sharing ideas. It’s a way to give back," said Nash, who is in his third year as a clinic volunteer coach. "It’s important to give good demonstration to these coaches so they can implement what they learn.

"My son played Pop Warner football. Coaches gave their time to help my son. Now, I can help so more coaches can give back to other people’s sons."

In 1999, San Francisco became the first team in the league to host this type of coaching academy. Many NFL teams have followed suit in this outreach activity. The 49ers’ coaching clinic draws an estimated 100 coaches a year according to Nash.

New 49ers’ head coach Mike Nolan and his entire staff will have presentations during the morning session on team building, leadership, team management and game preparation. Nash, Camp, Arnold and other college coaches will provide hands-on instruction in the afternoon.

Reservations to attend this year’s Coaching Academy Clinic can be made by contacting Bob Keropian of the National Football Foundation at 1-800-453-4163.
