Spartans Pick Up a Big Man

In desperate need of size in the middle, the San Jose State basketball staff got their big man with the verbal pledge of a Southern California center.

We don't often hear news from the baskerball side of recruiting, though when the news comes, it sometimes comes big. Scout.com published a brief Hot News item stating the the head coach of a San Diego-area high school said one of his big men heading to San Jose State.

"La Jolla (Calif.) Prep's 7-foot-1, 240-pound 2012 center, Mike VanKirk, has committed to San Jose State, according to his head coach Gary Trousdale." Josh Gershon of Scout.com reported.
