Tom Bowen Leaving SJSU for Memphis

After more than seven years at the helm of San Jose State athletics, Tom Bowen will be leaving the Spartans for the Athletic Director position at the University of Memphis, according to a Memphis newspaper.

In 2004, Tom Bowen came to San Jose State to take over an athletic department that was an afterthought, with a football program rumored to be nearing extinction. In the 7-plus years that he's been at the helm SJSU sports has seen a dramatic resurgence in stature, performance, and visibility. According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal he will be leaving the Spartans to take the same position at The University of Memphis.
