Another SoCal Star Decides to Come North

The San Jose State football program continues its commitment bonanza as this San Diego player decides that Northern California is the place to be.

If a prospective Football Bowl Subdivsion student-athlete wants to get noticed, one of the best ways to do so is to attend the summer camp of the school or schools in which you are interested in attending. Time and time again prospects tell the story of first being noticed "at camp" and for defensive back Miles Milner of Mission Hills High School in Sam Marcos, Calif., that axiom rings true.

"During the summer before school started I went to a camp at San Jose State and did real well there," Milner said. "They started noticing me and during my season the coach who is recruiting me, Kent Baer, contacting me and said they wanted to offer me a full ride." And in late-November the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Milner said he accepted the offer.

"I called and committed to them three weeks ago or so," he said.

An Avacado East All-League pick in 2010, Milner was selected to the All-North Second Team as a defensive back in 2011.

Other schools that Milner mentioned as having expressed interest include Fresno State, San Diego State, Air Force, Cal Poly, and New Mexico State. He added that none had offered.

Milner said he will take his official visit to San Jose State in January, probably during the weekend of the 13th.

Mission Hills went deep into the playoffs before falling to San Diego area power Helix on Dec. 1 21-0.

Not simply a one-sport star, Milner said he will also run the 100-meter dash, the 200, and possibly participate on one of the relay teams for Mission Hills come spring.
