OL Josh Tupou Talks About SJSU Visit

This weekend was the first big recruiting weekend for the San Jose State football program. As many as 18 prospects may have been on campus for their official visits. Offensive lineman Josh Tupou of Buena Park (Calif) High School spoke with Inside Sparta shortly after returning from San Jose. There appears to have been at least one verbal commitment to the Spartans.

The first big recruiting weekend for the San Jose State football program for the 2012 recruiting year has been completed, and at least one prospective student-athlete may have made his pledge to the Spartans. Offensive lineman Josh Tupou of Buena Park (Calif) High School spoke with Inside Sparta shortly after he returned from his visit to the SJSU campus.

"It was a good trip, better than I expected," Tupou said. "I didn't commit, but Oscar (Barron) did."

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Tupou said he was hosted by sophomore defensive end Cedric Lousi, and that the visit went well.

"I liked the coaches and the facilities," he said. "The campus was nice and the city was good."

Tupou reports offers from San Jose State, Nevada, UNLV, Hawaii, Alabama State, and Colorado. He was scheduled to visit CU on Jan. 7, but that has been moved up.

"I'm visiting Colorado next week," Tupou said. "After that I'm going to make my decision."
